I am a total wildlife enthusiast, having grown up on a farm in South Africa I have developed a love for all things wild and this led me to study as a Game ranger (Field guide) and to work as a professional guide for a number of years in the Zululand area, exploring the bush with guests and soaking in all the knowledge I could. I soon started to help with the wildlife management of the reserves I worked on and worked as a Wildlife manager for a reserve up in the Drakensberg area where I developed my skills further. However, I missed taking guests into the bush and educating and exploring the natural world. This drove me to accept a position in Namibia as a volunteer co-ordinator for a non-profit working with local communities to try and resolve the human and wildlife conflict in the area.
“and look forward to being part of a project with such vision, drive, spirit and knowledge”
The next project I joined also involved human wildlife conflict but dealt specifically with human elephant conflict in the Kunene region of Namibia and with the help of volunteers to alleviate the conflict and educate the local communities of the area. After having taken some personal time I have accepted the role of one of the volunteer co-ordinators for the Global White Lion Protection Trust, and look forward to being part of a project with such vision, drive, spirit and knowledge. I also look forward to welcoming volunteers to the project and hope we can explore and enjoy the place of the White lions and to hopefully feel part of something much greater than ourselves and to make a difference to the Lions, people, wildlife and conservation of this place and of the world.
See you on the wildside !
